i tried the frosting recipe from the baby cakes cookbook and the frosting didnt come together?

i made the cupcake from her cookbook and it turned out great but the frosting was a disaster. it didnt come together. did anyone else have this problem or did the recipe work for you????answers would be much appreciated=]

Try this: You can make different flavors by replacing the vanilla extract with strawberry, lemon, mint etc extracts. Add a few drops of food color to color. To make chocolate, add dry unsweetened cocoa to taste or melt a square of unsweetened chocolate and add, adding more powdered sugar if needed to thicken it.

VANILLA BUTTERCREAM FROSTING

1 package powdered sugar (16 ounces)
1/2 cup butter, softened (1 stick)
3 tablespoons milk
2 teaspoons vanilla

Beat sugar, butter, milk and vanilla with electric mixer at low speed until well blended and smooth. If frosting becomes too thick, beat in additional milk by teaspoonfuls until the frosting is of spreading consistency.

Makes about 2 1/2 cups frosting.
